Fernando Evangelista, age 85, of Port Charlotte, FL and a former longtime resident of Woburn, passed away sudden and unexpectedly, Monday, January 20, 2025, at the Shore Point Hospital of Port Charlotte, FL. He was the beloved husband of Rosalie C. (Nardella) Evangelista and together they shared 56 years of marriage. Born in Cassino, Italy, Fernando was the son of the late Giovanni and Antonia (Longo) Evangelista.
Fernando was raised and educated in Italy and emigrated to the United States with his family at the age of 16. He worked for over forty years as a Laborer and Supervisor in the construction Industry retiring from the Bond Brothers Construction Company. He was a member of the Laborer's Union Local 22 of Boston. Fernando also proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam era.
Fernando loved the outdoors and for many years enjoyed spending the summer months at his home in Newport, ME on lake Sebasticook. Always keeping active, Fernando loved playing golf, bocce, billiards, bowling and fresh water fishing with friends and family. He will be greatly missed.
In addition to his beloved wife Rosalie, Fernando is survived by his son, John Evangelista and his wife Tracy of Milford, NH. He was the loving grandfather of Meghan and Leanne Evangelista. Cherished brother of Lucy Evangelista and her husband Claudio, Carmella Colozzo and her husband Joseph, Frances Encalada and her husband Joseph, Joanne Murphy and her husband Edward. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours at the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., Woburn, Saturday, February 1st, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. followed by a prayer service beginning at 11 a.m. Services will conclude with Military Honors and burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Fernando's memory to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place • Memphis, TN 38105.
