Obituary

Wilfred W. Pierce, Jr., 75

Dateline: Raynham, MA

Wilfred W. Pierce Jr., of Raynham, MA, passed away on January 27, 2025, after a long illness, with his beloved wife, Cheryl, by his side.

Will grew up in Dighton, MA, and after graduating high school, he proudly served in the U.S. Navy as a member of the SEABEES during the Vietnam War. After his honorable discharge, he earned a degree from Wentworth University and dedicated 37 years to his career at Bay State Gas, retiring in 2010. Will remained close with many colleagues from his time there, who became some of his lifelong friends. In retirement, he enjoyed a part-time job at Bridgewater State University until the fall of 2024.

Will was a devoted husband to his wife of 47 years, Cheryl Stork-Pierce. He was also a loving father to his children: Jarad Pierce of Taunton, MA (and his girlfriend Samantha Baganha), and Jill Duquette (and son-in-law Matthew Duquette) of Dighton, MA. Will was also a proud “PopPop” to Lincoln and Reese Duquette. He is survived by his mother, Barbara Pierce, his sister, Marilyn Grear and her husband Joel Grear, sister-in-law Jodi Schultz and her husband Christopher Schultz, brother-in-law David Stork, brother-in-law Dan Furtado, and many cousins, nieces, nephews and Aunts. Will was predeceased by his father, Wilfred Pierce Sr., his sister, Jeanette Furtado, and his in-laws, Richard and Barbara Stork, as well as his brother-in-law, Rick Stork.

Known for his generous spirit, Will was always the first to lend a hand to family and friends when something needed fixing. When it came time for him to seek help with his own medical treatments, he was surrounded by the loving support of many relatives who always offered a helping hand especially his cousins Sue and Gene Rich.

A lover of warm weather and the beach, Will cherished vacations in Naples, FL, and his home in Humarock. He spent many days fishing on the beach or relaxing in his red rocking chair, striking up conversations with anyone who passed by, often with his loyal dog, Molly, by his side. His deep sense of community and his friendship left a lasting impact on all who knew him.

Whether he was called Will, Willie, or Buster, he will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A celebration of Will’s life will be held in the summer, as we all know he did not like the cold.

Visiting hours are omitted and burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Disabled American Veterans or Dana Faber Cancer Institute in Will's memory.
