Ronald K. Waite, 81, of New Bedford, passed away on Friday, January 24, 2025 at St. Luke's Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Ron was born in Fall River and raised in North Dartmouth. He was the son of the late J. Russell and Nina E. (Wordell) Waite. Ronald lived most of his life in Dartmouth before moving to New Bedford 12 years ago.
He worked at Brayton Point Power Plant in Somerset as a mechanic, retiring there after 40 years. Ron belonged to the Masonic Noquochoke Lodge A.F. & A.M. of Westport, MA. He was a avid classic car enthusiast and a member of Bob Bramwell's "Cuz Car Club." He loved attending classic car shows in the surrounding area with his 1940 Ford convertible winning many trophies with his various classics he had throughout the years.
He also looked forward to his monthly breakfast get togethers with his 1961 Dartmouth High School classmates. Ron had a love for Country and Bluegrass music and he would have friends gather at his home to play their banjos. Ron also loved his dog "Sallie", they were inseparable and went everywhere together.
Ron was predeceased by his longtime love Josephine (Lemos) Pimental who died in 2014.
He is survived by his sister Audrey Sherrill and her husband Joseph of N. Dartmouth; 6 grandchildren: Tara Carreiro and her husband Tony, of OH, Jenna Galloway and her partner Anthony of OH, Cali Ledger and her husband Peter of UT, Brynn O'Connell and her husband Tim of OH, Ryan Waite of Fall River and Samantha Waite of NY; 8 great grandchildren; and his son-in-law: Will Galloway of OH.
Ron was predeceased by his son Scott Waite, his daughter Tracey Waite Galloway and his fraternal twin brother Russell K. Waite.
Ron's family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to Ron's step-granddaughter for her loving care and comfort that she gave to Ron during his prolonged illness. Cheri Larracey has an everlasting love and gratitude from the Waite Family.
Masonic Service to which relatives and friends are invited will be Friday, February 7, 2025 at the Potter Funeral Home at 5:30 P.M.
Memorial visitation will be Friday, February 7, 2025 from 4-5:30 P.M., prior to the service.
Burial will be private.
