Arthur R. Adie Jr.
October 15, 1931 – January 23, 2025

Arthur R. Adie Jr., 93, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at Regal Care at Lowell, surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of the late Eileen T. (Regan) Adie, who passed away in 2018.

Born on October 15, 1931, in Lowell, Arthur was the son of the late Arthur R. Adie Sr. and the late Mary (Grogan) Adie. He grew up in Lowell, attended the local schools, and proudly served his country in the United States Army.  After his service, he returned to Lowell, where he spent his life.

Arthur worked for many years at Raytheon in Lowell, specializing in HVAC in their facilities. He was known for his dedication to his work and his contributions to the company.

An avid hobbyist, Arthur enjoyed collecting guns, model ships, and coins. Deep-sea fishing brought him great joy, and he was happiest when out on the water. He was a proud member of the VFW Lowell Walker Rogers Post 662, where he cherished the camaraderie of fellow veterans.

Arthur’s greatest pride and joy was his family. He is survived by his five children: Brenda Hamilton and her husband David of Lowell; Mary Laferriere of Lowell; Joanne Picanso of Dracut; Coleen Ceci and her husband Joseph of Nashua; and Jay Adie and his partner Lisa Barone of Dracut.

He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren: Joey Laferriere, Heidi Laferriere, Wendy Laferriere, Kerri Picanso, Courtney Picanso, Taylor Ceci, Anthony Ceci, and Mathew Ceci, as well as 19 cherished great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson.

Arthur was predeceased by his granddaughter Shannon Hamilton and his siblings, James Adie, Sheila Ashpole, and Helen Lindsay.

Arthur will be remembered for his sharp wit, quiet strength, and the love he poured into his family and passions. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

You are welcome to attend his visitation from 10 a.m. until 12 noon on Thursday, January 30, 2025 at the McDonough Funeral Home 14, Highland Street, Lowell, MA.  His funeral service will take place in the funeral home at 12 noon following the calling hours.  In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in his memory to The Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org.
