Obituary

ALLENSTOWN, NH ---- Dennis Michael Lord, 74, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2025 at Genesis Laconia Rehabilitation Center in Laconia, NH.

Dennis was born on July 30, 1950, in Portland, ME. He was placed in adoption by his teenage birth mother and at 18 months, was adopted by loving parents and sister, and raised with his new family in South Berwick, ME. On April 17, 1968, Dennis entered the U.S. Army and was deployed to Alaska. Dennis lived his life a proud US Veteran.

Dennis’ most meaningful success in life was his marriage of 44 years to Anna (Cote) Lord. He and Annie resided most of their married life in the Manchester/Allenstown, NH areas. Together they shared a love for cats and dogs and life at their camp, which they named “Lord’s Paradise,” in Henniker, NH. They were very close and rarely one was seen without the other. They shared a deep love and compassion for one another and incorporated laughter into their marriage.

Approximately 15 years ago, Dennis received the surprise of a lifetime when one of his biological brothers located him through extensive court searches and much due diligence. Ultimately, he was united with his biological half-brothers, located throughout the US and an aunt he never knew existed.

Dennis enjoyed music, old western movies and needlepoint which he made as gifts for his family and friends.
Dennis was predeceased by his wife Annie of Allenstown, NH; loving mother, Ethel M. Lord and father, Robert S. Lord, both of South Berwick, ME; his biological mother Marie Celine Chase; nephews Ronald M. Felix of Manchester, NH and Lance T. Lord of South Berwick, ME; half-brothers Audie Miller, Danny Miller, James Denoncourt, Beau Miller, Timothy Patton, and Aunt Marion Rose.

He is survived by his sisters, Judy Felix (Ron), Eliot, ME, Cheri Lord (Paul Servetas) of Peoria, AZ, Jana Merrithew (Bill) of N. Berwick, ME, Thomas Lord of S. Berwick, ME, and Frank Miller, Camden, AR, nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins. Special friends Jessica Davis of Candia, NH and Donna Sargent of Allenstown, NH as well as the life-long friends he and Annie shared within the Allenstown community.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Genesis Laconia Rehabilitation Center for the care and compassion provided to Dennis during his 4.5-year residence, as well as his VA Fiduciary, Jennifer Martone.

A Spring burial with military honors will be held at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH. Donations in his name may be made to your local animal shelter.
