Obituary

Emily De Los Santos, 89, life long resident of Saticoy, CA, entered the gates of heaven January 16, 2025, with her loving family by her side.
Emily was born January 23, 1935. She attended Ventura High School graduating in 1954. Following graduation she enrolled at Ventura Beauty School graduating in 1955. She met Richard De Los Santos, when he became her next-door neighbor, she was eight years old. From that moment on she knew that someday he would be her partner for life. They were married on September 23, 1956. they had four children Frances, Velerie, Gina, Rick; and spent the next 63 years building a family and wonderful life together.
She worked as a cosmetologist for 20 yrs, followed by another 20 years as a teacher’s assistant with the Briggs school district. With her bright smile and big heart, she was an inspiration to all that knew her young and old. Emily Loved singing and dancing with her husband. She was avid painter, an excellent cook and a big Dodgers fan. she dedicated herself to everything she loved with unwavering commitment.
She will be remembered not only for her artistic talents and also for the love she poured into her family. She was the heart of her family, and her legacy will continue to inspire those who were lucky enough to know her. Rest in peace, dear Emily; you will be missed but never forgotten.
She is proceeded in death by the love of her life Richard De Los Santos, her parents Ramon and Francisca Mijarez, sisters Aurora Ayala, Stella Johnson, brother Raymond Mijarez and beloved grandsons Michael and Richard Tamayo.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and creativity, she is survived by her children Frances (Micheal) Tamayo, Velerie (Dave) Hefterich, Gina (Larry) Reyes, Rick (Juan) Garibay - De Los Santos. And grandchildren, Nichole (Carlos) Torres, Melissa Tamayo, Steven (Ashley) Reyes, Christopher (Akane) Reyes and 18 great grandchildren, Samantha, Andrew, River, Sophia, Shyann, Micheal, Anthony, Joesph, Leihla, Marcus, Damian, Adam, Tillie, Akihiro, Diaskue, Mei, Maverick, Noah. She is survived by her brother Robert Mijarez, sisters Irene Aguilera, and Connie Ruiz.
The Family would like to thank the Doctors, Nurses, and the Staff at VCMC for the wonderful care of our mother and family. Services will be held on February 12th 2025 At Sacred Heart Church 10800 Henderson rd. Ventura. Recitation of the rosary will be at 10:00 am with Mass immediately following. Interment will be at 1:00 pm Ivy Lawn Cemetery 5400 Valentine Rd, Ventura. Celebration of life following at Sacred Heart, Biederman Hall.
