Obituary

Better known to many as “Bookie,” James Michael Paige, 62, of South Boston, passed away in December 2024. Born on August 17, 1962, in Boston, Massachusetts, James was a lifelong resident of South Boston—a place he called home and held close to his heart.

The son of the late Arthur and Anne Paige, James was predeceased by one sibling. He is survived by his children, D. Fallavollita and M. Paige, three grandchildren, and six brothers and sisters, along with their children, all of whom he loved deeply.

A man of many layers, James was a Boy Scout in his youth, a graduate of South Boston High School, and a dues-paying member of Ironworkers Local 7. He was an outdoorsman, a loyal friend, and a companion to many. Known for his short stature and big character, James wore his heart on his sleeve and never hesitated to stand up for what he believed was right.

Bookie was a man of truth, honesty, and loyalty. Straightforward and tough, with pure intentions, he had an unwavering sense of right and wrong. He was a friendly face with a quick wit, always loyal to those he cared about. Whether enjoying his record collection at home or spending time with family and friends, James valued both solitude and connection, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a celebration of life in The Casper Funeral Home, 187 Dorchester Street, South Boston, Friday, January 31 from 5:00-8:00P.M. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at a later date.

James Michael Paige will be remembered as a man who stood tall in spirit, even when life tried to knock him down. His legacy of love, resilience, and steadfast loyalty will live on in the hearts of his family and those who knew him.
