Libby Josephine Hinson Stone, 82, of Omega passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at Legacy Village in Moultrie. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Lenox Christian Fellowship with the Rev. Jimmie Hinson officiating. A eulogy will be given by Amber Stone and a closing prayer by Colton Stone. Mrs. Stone will be laid to rest at Lenox City Cemetery with Tommy Stone officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 24, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Mrs. Stone will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.
Mrs. Stone’s grandsons, Caleb Harnage, Austin Harnage, Andrew Harnage, Colton Stone, Adam Sumner, Justin Stone, Zack Stone and Nathan Shaw will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Lenox Christian Fellowship.
Born August 7, 1942, in Tifton, Mrs. Stone was the daughter of the late Jimmie Mitchell Hinson and Viola Shivers Hinson. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Charlie “Alton” Stone; one brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Carolyn Hancock Hinson; one sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Rudolph Sumner; and a sister-in-law, Bertha Johnson Hinson. Before retiring, she worked in bookkeeping and as a bank teller for 40 years with The Trust Bank (Bank of Lenox). She attended Lenox Christian Fellowship.
Mrs. Stone is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Tommy and Angie Stone of Tifton, Tony and Traci Stone of Omega; three daughters and sons-in-law, Sheila and Scot Harnage of Lenox, Charlene and Scott Sumner of Albemarle, North Carolina and Cindy and Steve Shaw of Tifton; one brother, the Rev. Jimmie Hinson of Lenox; and thirteen grandchildren and their spouses, Colton Stone, Lauren Stone, Gabrielle (Rob) Coester, Caleb (Callie) Harnage, Austin Harnage, Andrew Harnage, Adam Sumner, Anna Grace Sumner, Justin Stone, Zackery (Katie) Stone, Amber Stone (Brantt Carrington ), Nathan Shaw and Sophie Shaw; and four great-grandchildren, Grayson Coester, Zach Coester, Charlie Ruth Coester and Amelia “Mia” Coester.
