Obituary

Carol Ann (Kenney) Theriault, age 93, of Brockton, died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, January 19, 2025. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph N. Theriault.

She was born on January 3, 1932, in Somerville, MA and was the daughter of the late William and Agnes (Costello) Kenney.

Carol graduated from the last class at Carney School of Nursing in 1953. After graduating she worked as a registered nurse for 45 years starting at the old Carney Hospital, then Brockton Hospital, some private duty nursing and ended her career at Embassy House Nursing Home as a nighttime supervisor. She was a hands-on nurse providing exceptional care to her patients. After retiring she picked up part-time work at Michael’s Craft store where she spent her entire paycheck on crafts and hobbies for her grandchildren.

Carol and her husband, Joseph established their roots in Brockton in 1956 where they raised their seven children. Carol was the heart of her home and family. She raised her children after her late husband’s early death 43 years ago. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, cooking and baking for the family, reading and crafts and was a devoted diehard Red Sox fan. Carol’s family was everything to her. The Theriault house was always the central hub and the gathering place for the neighborhood, family and friends where everyone was welcomed. The most important thing in her life was her family and she was the matriarch of the entire extended family.

Carol is survived by her children, Jeanne Tobin and her husband Charlie, Aimee Kowalker and her husband Chuck, Joe Theriault and his wife Jackie, Jack Theriault and his wife Linda and her son Mike Theriault who was her loving and dedicated primary caregiver and the late Bob Theriault and Jimmy Theriault. Her family will never forget her strength, kindness, gratitude and eternal love.
