Obituary

June D. (Garo) Winchester, lifelong resident of Medford, passed away on Saturday, January 18th. She was 91. Born in Boston, she was the cherished daughter of the late Joseph and Katherine (Galvin) Garo. June had a successful career as a nurse’s assistant, and established many lifelong friendships throughout the years. Later in life, June would work for her brother Victor as a legal secretary in his law firm. June was a proud member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the VFW Dilboy in Somerville.

June was a true fashionista. She enjoyed dressing to the nines, and when we say dressing to the nines we mean it! June was always out shopping, looking for the newest fashion trends. Her appearance was always pristine, flashy and well kept. June payed attention to detail and always made sure that her makeup, hair and accessories were on point.

June was a natural people person and was considered a social butterfly. She would talk to everyone about anything, which earned her the unofficial title of “Everybody’s Dear Abby”. June loved spending winters in Florida with Stanley, and her family and friends, frequent trips to Las Vegas where she enjoyed the excitement of the casinos, gathering everyone together for an amazing homemade sauce dinner, and creating memories by making all the holidays special.

June was the beloved wife of Stanley "Stan" Winchester for 72 1/2 years. They were married on August 31, 1952 . She was the devoted mother of Lisa Catino and her husband Domenic, and the late Stanley Winchester, Jr. She was the loving Nana of Michaela Griffith and her husband Dan, Briana Catino and Domenic Catino. She was the Great Nana of James Griffith and dear sister of Victor Garo.
