Obituary

Parsonsfield – James R. Campbell, age 95, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 12, 2025, at Memorial Hospital in No. Conway, NH after a brief illness.

He was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts on December 21, 1929, a son of the late Joseph and Minnie (Wiseman) Campbell. After graduating from Watertown High School, Jim went on to attend Providence Bible Institute in Providence, Rhode Island. He spent many summers at Word of Life Fellowship Camp in Schenectady, New York. That is where he met the love of his life, Gertraud (Traudie) Machalett. They married on August 29, 1952.

After college, Jim became a banker and worked at Rhode Island Hospital Trust Bank until his retirement in April of 1983. Jim enjoyed his long retirement. He and Traudie went on many site-seeing trips and adventures, and were always involved in the interests of their children and grandchildren.

He was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church in Pawtucket, RI for over 50 years, serving in many capacities. He relocated to Maine in 2016 after the passing of his wife in 2013 and daughter in 2014. He then became a member of Calvary Bible Church in South Hiram. As a church greeter, everyone enjoyed his welcoming smile and open arms.

He is predeceased by his wife, Traudie, of 61 years and daughter Sharon Campbell Landis. He is survived by his two sons, Bruce Campbell and wife, Jean of Winter Haven, Florida and David Campbell and wife, Nancy of South Hiram. Four grandchildren, Rebecca (Campbell) Ott, Joshua Campbell, Heidi (Campbell) Souza and husband Ben, and Nathan Campbell and wife Leah. He also was blessed with 12 great-grandchildren, Felicity, Thatcher, Shepard, Anne, Allison, Emma, Hazel, Aaron, Joshua (due in March), Paisley, Asher and Violet.

Services will be held at Calvary Bible Chapel, 348 S. Hiram Road, Hiram, Maine on Sunday, January 26th. Visiting hours at 1:30pm, Memorial Service at 2:30pm.
