CHICOPEE – Rene J. Nadeau, Sr. 89, of the Willimansett section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, January 16, 2025. He passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Holyoke on August 9, 1935, a beloved son of the late Conrad and Rose Aline (Fredette) Nadeau. He was raised and educated in Holyoke and later moved to the Willimansett section of Chicopee where he lived the remainder of his life. He was employed for many years as a Tool Forger at the former Moore Drop Forge Company which later became Danaher Tool Company in Springfield and retired around 1995. He was an avid Red Sox fan and enjoyed all the New England teams. He was a communicant of the former Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Chicopee. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and his many friends. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Gail M. (Courchesne) Nadeau. They were married on June 21, 1958 at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church and were blessed with over 65 years of happiness together. He also leaves his three loving children, Rene J. Nadeau, Jr. of Chicopee, Ann Marie Margoles and her husband, Tim, of Westfield and Jennifer M. Costigan and her husband, Thomas, of Chicopee; his eight cherished grandchildren, Raymond J. Nadeau, Jr., Amanda and Samantha Nadeau, Abigail Nadeau and her fiancé, Christopher Nichols, Jesse Ethier and his wife, Gina, Christopher Ethier, Brittany Ethier and Sophie Costigan; his many cherished great grandchildren; his dear sister, Lorraine Teschke and her husband, Carl, of Chicopee, and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. In addition to his parents and wife, he was also predeceased by his loving son, Raymond J. Nadeau, Sr. who was Called Home on December 3, 2018; and his dear brother and four sisters, Normand, Rita, Lucille, Annette and Florence. His family will receive friends on Saturday, January 25, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. which will be followed by a Prayer Service at 2:30 p.m. at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
