BUXTON- Caroline “Carol” Eva Brown, Senior, age 81, passed away on January 16th, 2025, freeing herself from dementia and reuniting with her husband and daughter in heaven.
Caroline was born in Portland, Maine on March 18th, 1943, daughter of the late Edward F. Cornish and late Nellie B. Mahoney-Cornish.
In her work life, Caroline started out as a custodian for a local bank. She later found herself working for Fairchild Semiconductor. A job she took pride and joy in. She worked for them for 12 years.
Caroline fell in love with her soulmate, Frederick Minor Brown. She was 17 when they both got married. Their marriage lasted over 60 years. They had two beautiful children: Frederick M. Brown Jr; wife Lynn M. Brown and Caroline E. Brown Jr. and two beloved granddaughters.
She loved playing Beano and Bingo. That was her happy place. She constantly played at churches and Beeno halls, including Elk’s Lodge in Portland, Maine. She enjoyed it so much she gained the skill of playing 48 cards at once!
Caroline loved to socialize. She was always ready to go anywhere. Her son and daughter-in-law share many fond memories of the family enjoying New Hampshire’s mountains and Clark’s Trading Post. She loved taking her grandchildren out and spoiling them. Caroline and her husband would travel around Maine to spend time with family. Overall, she found joy in all the small things and she loved sharing it with people.
Caroline is survived by her two sisters- Linda Patterson and Donna White. Caroline’s son Frederick Brown Jr. and his wife Lynn M. Brown. And Caroline's two grandchildren, Stephanie R. Michaud and Caitlin E. Michaud.
You could tell when Caroline was truly happy. She would smile wide and be caught with contagious laughter. You could see the laughter in her blue eyes. Caroline had many people in her life that gave her joy. But the one who fulfilled it the most was her husband, Fred. They were a team. You never saw one without the other. Caroline's innocent nature and her husband’s playful humor was a dynamic so strong that everyone could feel the love in the room around them.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday Jan. 25th at 3 PM at the Chad E. Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service Chapel, 498 Long Plains Road (Rt.22) in Buxton. Burial will be in the spring at South Buxton Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her husband Frederick Sr.
