Waymon Alvin "Bubba" Harrison, Jr., 73, of Tifton passed away Friday, January 17, 2025, at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 20, 2025, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Biff Coker officiating. A eulogy will be given by Harold Chambers. Bubba will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 19, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Spud Bowen, Mike Beaumont, Richard Golden, Jim Lever, Gary Vowell and Gary Kincaid will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Glenn Faulk, Steve Gill, Ken Spurlin, David Nelson, Rusty Smith, Walter Burgess, Dave Powell, Adam Storey and Tyron Spearman.
Born November 3, 1951, in LaGrange, Georgia, Bubba was the son of the late Waymon Alvin “Red” Harrison, Sr. and Mildred Harvey Harrison. He graduated from Tift County High School and Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, where he played baseball. He also graduated from the University of Georgia. He was the owner of Northside Cafe in Tifton. He was a proud booster of Tift County Athletics and provided meals for the bus drivers, law enforcement and coaches wives at sporting events. He also enjoyed refereeing various sporting events. He was an honorary member of the Elks Lodge; and he was a member of the Southern Area Basketball Officials Association, the Gold Leaf Football Association; and the Albany Referee Association.
Bubba is survived by his wife, Cynthia Harrison, of Tifton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Waymon Alvin “Tripp” III and Sharon Harrison and Slade and Brittney Ensley; two daughters and sons-in-law, Allison and Ryan McGriff and Leah and Michael Howell; two sisters, Barbara Skinner and JoAnn Smith; nine grandchildren and their spouses, Drew and Hannah Harrison, Kaleianne Harrison, Hunter Ensley, Lane and Jeanette Ensley, Hayden Ensley, Kadyn Arrowood, Devalynn Ensley, Emma Ensley and Kara Ann Howell; one great-grandchild, Walter Ensley; and numerous nieces and nephews
