Our beloved father, Leo P. Lyonnais, was suddenly called home to be with our lord on December 25, 2024, he was 89 years old. He was the husband of Annette F Lyonnais for 68 years. He was the son of Mary (Denault) Lyonnais and Raoul Lyonnais.
Leo grew up in Fairhaven, and after high school, he joined the Army for 3 years and was stationed in Germany. After the Army, he worked at Cape Cod Cabinet Shop and then he was a salesman for Metropolitan Freezer Food Plan where he became a District Manager until the company closed its doors. After that, he became a salesman for John Hancock Insurance, which he worked at for 20 years. In 1978, Leo started a carpentry business with his son Michael, L+M Lyonnais General Contracting. After his eldest son Lawrence finished his 4 years in the Navy, he joined into the business. Leo worked for the family business for 20 years, until he became the Acushnet Building Commissioner, which he worked as until his retirement.
Leo enjoyed playing his baby grand paino and traveling.
He is survived by his two sons, Lawrence P. Lyonnais and Michael W. Lyonnais and his wife Deborah, all of Acushnet. He was predeceased by their third son Russell J. Lyonnais.
The funeral mass will be at St. Francis Xavier Church on Main Street in Acushnet on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at 10:00AM. A celebration of life will be held in his memory at a later date in June.
