Obituary

Ruth "Ruthie" Elizabeth Keegan (Borgen) of Hingham, MA, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 15th, 2025, at the age of 80. Ruthie’s family and friends will forever be grateful for the joy and warmth she shared throughout her life. Known for her positive outlook, easy-going personality and great sense of humor, Ruthie had a remarkable ability to bring joy to every room she entered.

Born and raised in South Weymouth, Ruthie dedicated much of her life to those she loved. She raised three daughters in Weymouth and worked for nearly 30 years in an OB/GYN doctor’s office, where her kindness and caring nature touched many lives.

Ruthie’s greatest joy was her family. She cherished her role as “Nana”, finding immense joy in spending time with her five beloved grandchildren. Her love for family and friends was unparalleled, and there was nothing she enjoyed more than sharing a good meal, stories, and laughter with those she loved. Ruthie enjoyed traveling and took great pleasure in visiting new places. She enjoyed going to the movies and having dinner with friends. She loved to read, play games and watch sports, especially the Boston Celtics.

Ruthie was predeceased by her daughter Lynn Keegan-Smith of Rockland, MA. She is survived by her daughter Danielle Keegan Messina & her husband Chris Messina of Hingham, MA, daughter Jaime Keegan of Weymouth, MA and son-in-law Richard Smith of Rockland, MA. Beloved grandmother of Amanda, Anthony and Matthew Smith of Rockland, MA and Alexandria and Siena Messina of Hingham, MA. Ruthie is also survived by her brother Bob Borgen and his wife Celestina and brother Dick Borgen and his wife Judy and many loving nieces, nephews & cousins.

Ruthie requested a “Celebration of Life” for those who knew her, which will take place at her church, Calvary Chapel in Rockland, MA on Saturday, January 25th at 10:30 a.m.
