Thomas J. Darby
March 26, 1932 – January 8, 2025
Thomas J. Darby, a lifelong Ossining resident, died at Phelps Memorial Hospital on January 8, 2025. He was 92 years old and was born on March 26, 1932 to Joseph T. Darby and Cecilia Fuller. Tom received his education through the Ossining School System. Following graduation from high school, he very proudly served in the Army during the Korean War and thereafter in the National Guard. In 1957 he married his sweetheart and love of his life, Lucille Coderre. They shared 68 years of love and partnership together.
Tom’s professional career spanned over 40 years at Kruysman-Redweld in New York City where he was Vice President and co-owner of the company. He had a keen interest for antique books and became an avid antique book dealer after retirement.
Tom was a very kind, compassionate and generous man. He was known for his quick wit, sense of humor and knew how to bring joy into any room. In his leisure time he enjoyed working outside, spending time at his cabin in Pennsylvania and antiquing. He was an avid reader and had a strong interest in current events, politics and sports.
Tom’s Catholic faith was very important to him and he was a lifelong parishioner of St. Theresa’s Church in Briarcliff. He was also a member of The Point Senasqua Rod and Reel Club of Ossining and the Knights of Columbus.
Tom is survived by his wife Lucille Coderre Darby, daughter Pamela (Henry), son Sean and nieces and nephews from the East Coast to the West Coast. He was predeceased by his parents, brother Joseph, sister Jean and nephews Jerome and Edward.
