Lazaros (Louie) Karalexis was born on August 3, 1961 in Roslindale, Massachusetts to his parents, Angelo and Anna Karalexis (Athanasiou).
Louie (BIG LOU) grew up in Roslindale Massachusetts. He spent quite a few summers on the island of Samos, Greece, where his mother was born and raised, and where his grandparents and many other relatives resided during his life time. He was passionate about this place and had many friends there.
Louie had a very big heart, and thus loved very deeply and was deeply loved. He had a very close relationship with his two first cousins, Trifon and Nick. We called them "The Three Musketeers". They grew up like brothers.
Louie was a plumber and was very good at his trade. Everybody seemed to know him, and he was a real people person.
Unfortunately, Louie developed Huntington's Disease, and spent the last 10 years of his life in the care of the Huntington's Disease long-term care unit at Tewksbury Hospital. Louie was popular among the staff there, and continued to charm everyone with his magnetic personality even throughout the illness. No matter how bad it got, he still laughed and joked with all the caregivers and fellow patients. He will be most deeply missed by his closest family members and friends,
his sister, Sandra Gikas and her son, Leonidas Gikas his brother-in-law, Lawrence Lambert His first cousins, Nick, Trifon and Lynne Athanasiou and their 3 daughters, Marissa, Lindsay and Taylor Athanasiou. His beloved Aunt, Maritsa Athanasiou His best friend, George Keller

Louie is survived by a daughter, Suzanne Dowd and a granddaughter, Morgan Dowd-Allan.

A Funeral Service will be on Tuesday January 21, 2025 at 11 AM in St. Nectarios Greek Orthodox Church, 39 Belgrade Ave, Roslindale, MA. Louie's final resting place will be with his paternal grandparents at
Forest Hills Cemetery, 95 Forest Hills Ave, Jamaica Plain, MA.
