Jerry Simatos, beloved son, friend, and neighbor, passed away in Massachusetts shortly before his 46th birthday. Born on January 13, 1979, in Greece, Jerry moved to the United States at the age of 8, settling in Worcester, MA, where he spent most of his life.
Jerry earned a Bachelor’s Degree in History and a Minor in Classics from Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY, where he was affectionately nicknamed "Scrappy"—a testament to his strength of character and an uncanny ability to make anyone around him feel completely at ease. He later completed a Master of Business Administration at Clark University in Worcester, MA, and went on to become a respected leader in the field of healthcare and benefits management, building a career marked by long tenure and deep mutual respect.
A cinephile from a young age, Jerry viewed the world through a unique lens. Whether sharing a memorable quote, a witty Seinfeld reference, or his signature self-deprecating sense of humor, he was the center of whatever room he inhabited, whether he acknowledged that or not. His gift for storytelling sparked countless late-night conversations, where his insights turned even the simplest stories into something unforgettable. A lifelong Celtics fan and proud ‘Green Teamer,’ Jerry was overjoyed to see the team raise their 18th championship banner—a fitting tribute to someone who brought so much happiness to those fortunate enough to know him.
Jerry was predeceased by his mother, Helen, with whom he shared an extraordinarily close bond. He is survived by his father, Lambros Simatos, and a wide circle of friends and family who will forever cherish his memory.
His calling hours will be held on Thursday, January 30th from 5:00pm until 7:00pm in O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
