Obituary

Gary W. Tucker, 78, passed away on January 10th 2025 after a long battle with cancer. His final moments were spent peacefully in his home in Anderson surrounded by his family.

Gary was born on September 23rd, 1946 in Hilltop Kentucky. Gary was hardworking, kind, caring, and a well-rounded man. Gary graduated Gaston High School in 1964. After high school Gary was drafted into the Army and the Vietnam War in 1966. He served until being honorably discharged in January of 1972. Gary received an Apprenticeship Degree in 1972 from Millwright-Delco Remy Divison.

Gary dedicated over 40 years as a Millwright at Delco/Delphi. He was devoted to The American Welding Society, District 14, for 30 years. As a ASW board member and certified welding inspector he attended several conferences/expo’s as a judge and educator. After retirement, he became an instructor for the welding program at Ivy Tech Community College, in Muncie IN.

During Gary’s life he enjoyed traveling and camping with his wife, Vicki. He enjoyed turkey hunting, spending time with his grandchild, bird watching and reading books.

Gary is survived by his daughter, Michele Tucker; granddaughter, Alie Tucker-Sollars [Michael Sollars]; great-grandson, Masen Sollars; great-granddaughter, Laney Sollars; brother, Kenny Tucker; sisters, Genevieve (Tucker) Kingsolver, and Ann (Tucker) Nevels.

He was preceded in death by his his wife of 52 years, Victoria (Siler) Tucker; father, Gilbert Tucker; Mother, Emma (Koger) Tucker; brothers, Clifford Tucker and Blaine Tucker; sisters, Gwen (Tucker) Hill and Barbara (Tucker) Johnson.
