Maurice A. Thibault, 81, of Westport passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2025 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Jennine D. (Gradin) Thibault.
Born in Fall River, son of the late Albert A. and Claudia (LaFlamme) Thibault, he had lived in Westport for most of his life. Prior to retirement, he worked for Polaroid for 35 years. A veteran of the United States Army, he was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War.
Maurice found joy in the company of his family, cherishing every moment with them. As a passionate boater and avid fisherman, he enjoyed sharing his fishing stories with a mischievous grin, always recounting his latest adventures. He treasured sharing these experiences with family and friends. His infectious sense of humor, filled with his trademark "dad jokes," brought smiles to all who knew him. He delighted in playing cards and games with his children and grandchildren, creating lasting memories with each laugh and friendly competition. Maurice was also a devoted Nascar fan, loved listening to music, and found pleasure in sharing a meal of fresh seafood with his family.
While preparing for his 50th high school reunion, Maurice and his friends formed a special tradition—the Breakfast Club. Every month, they gathered for breakfast, a time to reconnect, share stories, and catch up on life. These gatherings at the Kozy Nook became a cherished ritual.
Including his wife, he is survived by 2 sons: Maurice A. Thibault, Jr. and his wife Wendy of Bristol and Joseph M. Thibault and his fiancé Layla of E. Taunton; a daughter: Valerie S. Martin and her wife Jennifer of S. Kingstown; 2 sisters: Diana Pelletier of FL and Lucille Pelletier of FL; 8 grandchildren: Samantha, Alec, Riley, Matthew, Daniel, Adam, Michael and Simon; 3 great grandchildren: Saoirse, Deirdre and Nash; former wife: Cecile Thibault of Westport; and several nieces and nephews.
