Obituary

WORCESTER___ Lucian Gawedzki, 74, of Worcester, MA passed away on Sunday January 12, 2025 at UMASS Memorial Medical Center, University Campus.

Lucian is survived by his life partner of over 40 years, Krystyna Kania and her children, Barbara Bodus and her husband, Slawomir, Diane McCorison, Krzysztof Kania and his wife, Patti and John Kania and his wife, Denise. Lucian was a loved Dziadziu to his eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Ireneusz Gawedzki and his wife Anna, and his many nieces and nephews in the USA and Poland. Lucian was predeceased by a brother, Izidor Gawedzki and two sisters, Irena Roginska and Krystyna Omielan. He was born in Budne, Poland, a son of the late Piotr and Wanda Gawedzki. Lucian immigrated to the United States in the 80's.

Lucian was the proud “Rooster” of his neighborhood. His garden was bountiful, his home welcoming and he was always eager to lend a helping hand. Lucian was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church. He worked at the National Envelope Company before retiring. He was a devoted companion, a helpful menace and a great, great dziadziu and will be greatly missed. May he rest in peace.

The funeral will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025 from HENRY - DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward Street with a Mass at 11:00 A.M. in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward Street. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours in the funeral home are Friday, January 17, 2025 from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. before the Mass.
