Marie T. (Gentile) Vetrano, lifelong resident of Somerville, passed away on Sunday, January 12th. She was 87. Born in Boston, she was the cherished daughter of the late Paul and Bernice (Girullo) Gentile.
Marie was a devout parishioner of St. Catherine’s. She was baptized, celebrated her first communion, was confirmed, married and became a Sunday school teacher at St. Catherine’s Church. Marie attended daily Mass for as long as she was able to.
Marie’s biggest passion was her family. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Marie was an amazing cook and enjoyed cooking for the whole family especially during the holidays. Marie will be missed by all that had the privilege to have met her.
Marie was the beloved wife of the late Anthony Vetrano. She was the devoted mother of Karen Medeiros, Anthony Vetrano, Jr., Paul Vetrano, Michael Vetrano and his wife Karen, and Mark Vetrano. She was the loving Grammy of Tara Fiorenza and her husband Adam, Bryan Medeiros, Brian Vetrano and his wife Nicole, Andrew Vetrano, Matthew Vetrano, Nicholas Vetrano and Sarah Vetrano. She was the caring Great Grammy of Londyn and Liam Vetrano. She was the dear sister of the late Samuel P. Gentile.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit with Marie’s family on Tuesday, January 21st, at St. Catherine of Genoa Church, 179 Summer St., Somerville from 9 to 10 AM, followed by a Mass celebrated at 10 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, on Wednesday, January 22nd, at 12:15 PM. Please meet inside the gate in the designated funeral line.
