Obituary

Mr. John "Jack" Patrick Kenney, a resident of Amesbury, passed away at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers on January 9, 2025. He was 78 years old.

Born in 1946, he was the beloved son of the late James H. and Margaret (McSweeney) Kenney of Rockland, Massachusetts. He was a veteran of the US Army, receiving his honorable discharge in 1971. He made lifelong friends during his service.

Jack completed his baccalaureate at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and he earned his Masters Degree in business administration from Babson College. Mr. Kenney worked in finance as a controller and cost accountant for many years. He particularly appreciated his time at A.W. Chesterton Company in Groveland, where he worked until he retired in 2016.

Jack was an avid tennis player and fervent fan of the Boston Sports teams, especially the Red Sox. He enjoyed family vacations to Cape Cod, where he played lots of mini-golf with his daughter. Jack loved driving a Ford Mustang convertible, and owned many of them over the years.

Jack was proud to be completely Irish and his favorite holiday was St. Patrick’s Day. He was also a devoted member of St. Andre Bessette (formerly Holy Family) Parish in Amesbury, where he joyously celebrated his daughter’s wedding and grandchildren’s baptisms. He will be dearly missed.

Jack is survived by Carrie (Krasznekewicz) Kenney of Andover; his loving daughter Jillian and her husband John Deshaies of Andover; grandchildren Jack and Theodore Deshaies of Andover; brother and sister-in-law James and his wife Lori Kenney of Aventura, Florida; and nephew Jason Kenney of Aventura, Florida.
