Ronald James MacDonald

HOLLIS, Maine- Ronald James MacDonald age 82, passed on January 4, 2025, at Southern Maine Medical Center. Ron was born on September 7, 1942, in Bar Harbor Maine to James and Mary MacDonald. Ron Graduated from South Portland High School in 1962. After graduating from High school, Ron served his country from October 29, 1962, to October 22, 1965, in the Army. During his service in the Army, he earned an Expert Rifle Marksmanship medal and Good Conduct medal.

Ron was the Quartermaster of the 5th Maine Regiment Drum & Bugle Corp where he and his sister Susan traveled all over New England competing in Drum & Bugle Corp competitions.

On December 23, 1983, he married Beatrice Abbott Haskell. Both Ron and Bea worked at Unum in the print room for many years. Ron’s favorite times were taking care of and riding his beloved horse, Noel and woodworking in his garage.

Predeceased by: Father James MacDonald, Mother Mary MacDonald, older sister Marjorie Adams, younger sister Jean MacDonald and younger brother James MacDonald Jr.

Surviving relatives – Wife of 41 years Beatrice MacDonald, Stepchildren Tammy Jones and partner Doug Parker, Kim Libby and husband Rob. Grandchildren Tasia Libby and partner Nick, Tylor Libby & wife Courtney, James Lagueux Jr, Anthony Lagueux and partner Pam, 2 Great Grandchildren Addison Burns and Leah Lagueux. Brother Paul MacDonald and Wife Susan of Abilene TX, Sister Susan Gurney and Husband Keith, multiple nieces and nephews.
