Brian Thomas Michael Fisher, beloved father, husband, brother, and uncle passed away peacefully on Friday, January 10th, 2025.
Brian was proud to be born and raised on Charles Street in Malden, Massachusetts with his four siblings—John Fisher, Christine Fisher, and predeceased by sisters Elizabeth (Fisher) Mattuchio and Rosemary (Fisher) Duffy along with their mother Margaret (King) Fisher and father Frederick Alexander Fisher. Brian was baptized, confirmed and served as an altar boy for many years at Immaculate Conception Church in Malden. He was a graduate of Malden Catholic High School, where he served as senior year vice-president for the class of 1978. One of his fondest childhood memories was when he hit a homerun at Gillis Field when he was sixteen.
A lifelong rock music fan, Brian attended over one hundred Bruce Springsteen and U2 concerts in his lifetime. He loved being a part of the 1970s and 1980s rock scene in Boston, and mourned the loss of the delightfully dingy concert halls such as The Channel and The Rat. He worked for many years in the Financial District in Boston, and loved sharing any and all historical facts about the city’s history with his family.
Brian was notorious for his great and often experimental cooking, especially for the spicy food he would add to any family party. Nobody could ever beat Brian when it came to pop culture trivia, and he was frequently cited by friends and family as their first phone call should they ever be stumped by a question on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? and it is a sincere regret by his wife and daughter that he never got a chance to sweep on Jeopardy!
Brian was a lover of briny oysters and cold beer, preferably at an Irish pub. He was a lifelong Patriots and Red Sox fan. He also adored travel and new adventures. Some of his greatest travel memories include listening to live music in pubs in Ireland, exploring castles in England and Scotland, tasting the culinary delights of Padua, Italy, sailing a boat in Alicante, Spain, and taking in the view from the Alps in Switzerland, plus countless other adventures.
One of his happiest memories was of meeting his partner-in-crime of 33 years of marriage to his wife Kelly, who he met at Pufferbellies Pub in West Yarmouth, MA in the 1980s. They have been inseparable ever since.
He was a kind, quiet, thoughtful person who valued time with his daughter Caitlin, whether that time was spent debating about artsy movies or who the most talented member of The Beatles was, or whether it was going on long drives to new and old destinations while listening to music “just to explore the beautiful world we live in.”
Amongst those who are sad to see him go include his wife, Kelly (Frederick) Fisher; his daughter, Caitlin Fisher; his brother and sister-in-law, John (Joanne) Fisher; his sister Christine Fisher; his brothers-in-law, Dan Duffy and David Guidette; his sisters-in-law Karen Guidette and Linda Baker; his nephews Brian (Jessica) Duffy, Kevin (Rocio) Duffy, Danny (Molly) Duffy, John (Amanda) Mattuchio, Shawn (Samantha) Fisher, Greg (Susan) Girardey, and Kenneth Girardey; his nieces Maura (Joe) Augusten, Amy (Scott) Benjamin, Stephanie Mattuchio, Melissa (Jack) Deliere, and Megan (Kyle) Robert; along with many beloved grand-nieces and -nephews; and was predeceased by his brother in law Robert Mattuchio and brother in law and wife Howard (Patricia) Baker.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours at the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant street, Malden on Tuesday, January 21st from 4 to 7 p.m. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden on Wednesday, January 22nd at 10 AM followed by a luncheon at Anthony’s of Malden, 105 Canal St. in Malden. In lieu of flowers, consider donating to WGBH or WBUR in Brian’s name, to support the public television and radio content that Brian adored.
