William J. Coppi
Custodial Foreman at M.I.T.

TEWKSBURY: William J. Coppi, age 66, of Tewksbury, formerly of Cambridge, passed away peacefully at home in the care of his family and hospice on Sunday, January 12, 2025.

He was the beloved husband of Maryann E. (Bennett) Coppi with whom he celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary on December 3rd.

Born in Cambridge on June 25, 1958, he was the son of the late Andrew Coppi and the late Mary (Egan) Coppi. William was raised in Cambridge and graduated from Cambridge High & Latin High School.

Prior to his illness, he was employed as a custodial foreman by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he worked for over 40 years.

Bill enjoyed family trips to Maine and New Hampshire, frequenting area restaurants, and visiting the Encore Casino in Everett.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, William J. Coppi and his wife Nancy, Michael R. Coppi and his wife Alisha, and Lisa M. Coppi and her boyfriend Christian, all of Tewksbury: four grandchildren, Andrew, Alex, Camryn, and Kayley Coppi. He was the brother of Andy Coppi and his wife Sherry, Paul Coppi and his wife JoAnn, Tom Coppi and his wife Shirley, Susan Fitzgerald and her husband Jim, Jimmy Coppi and his wife Nancy, and the late Mary Gualtieri and her surviving husband Bert, Nancy Olivolo and her husband John, and Linda Dieguez and her husband Angel. He leaves many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday, January 16th, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee Street, Tewksbury, immediately followed by prayer service to be held at 4 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to The Jimmy Fund at Dana Farber Cancer Institute at www.jimmyfund.org
