Obituary

Anthony (Tony) J. Petruzzelli ,61, of Hanover Massachusetts passed away on Friday, January 10th, 2025 at his home.

Born in Dorchester, Massachusetts on September 11th, 1963 as the third son to Catherine (Palmisano) and Alfred Petruzzelli. Tony worked for 39 years at Massachusetts General Hospital in Patient Transport. He graduated from Christopher Columbus Highschool in 1983.

Tony was an avid lover of music particularly The Beatles and rock and roll music from the 1970’s and 80’s as evidenced by his extensive collection of albums and compact discs.

He was the loving brother to his 6 siblings, Lois Boyd of Halifax, Tommy Petruzzelli of Abington, Rita Nicholson of Norwood, Jean Lochiatto of Abington, Louis Petruzzelli, of Taunton, Maria Mair of Raynham and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Uncle Tony was lovingly referred to as Uncle Buck because he was always handing out dollar bills. Tony had his own little nicknames and special relationships with each member of the family.

He had a great sense of humor and often would send videos of himself impersonating famous people from childhood favorite programs. He had many favorite TV shows that he enjoyed watching including, Mr Ed, the Honeymooners, Leave it Beaver, All in the Family, Mash and Happy Days!

Although Tony did not have his own children, he thought of all his nieces and nephews like his own. Tony was known for his incredible kindness and thoughtfulness, as well as his love of all sports professional and college. “He loved his Red Sox.” Above all Tony enjoyed spending time with family and close friends especially Chris Duchaney and Rick Gendrolis. He had many friends at work who helped him throughout his long career. He had a passion for Italian food, particularly chicken parmigiana and pizza especially from Mama Mia’s.

Family and friends are invited to attend Anthony’s visiting hours on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 from 4:00-7:00 PM at the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. All are welcome to Blanchard Funeral Chapel Thursday, January 16th at 9:45 AM to join in procession before Mass. A Funeral Mass is going to held January 16th, at 10:30 AM at the St. Bridget Church, 455 Plymouth Street, Abington MA. A burial will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery, 920 Adams Street, Dorchester MA.
