Obituary

Arthur MacBride Love Jr., a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 9th at the age of 91 in his retirement community in Evanston, Il .  He was born in New Rochelle, New York in 1933 to Arthur M. Love of Saltsburg, PA and Rosa (Greeko) Love of Worcester, MA, and his family later moved to Wellesley Hills, MA, where he spent his childhood.  Arthur graduated from Rivers Country Day School in 1952 and went on to earn concurrent degrees from both Brown University in 1956 and from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1957 after which he was even interviewed for a position as a cartoonist with Walt Disney.  Arthur also served his country as a photographer in the United States Army in the late 1950’s.

Arthur's professional career included tenures as a Graphic Designer at Houghton Mifflin and Direct Marketing Manager with AAA Northeast, where he worked from 1974 to 1988. Beyond his career, Arthur was deeply involved in his church community and had a lifelong love for music and cars. Driving his cherished ’69 AMX, he played the drums in big bands across eastern Massachusetts for many years and was a popular member of the Boston Yacht Club in Marblehead since 1951, where he enjoyed yachting and held the distinction of being the oldest continuous member at the time of his passing.  He was active in many community and church organizations including Rotary Club and St. Mary’s of Holliston, and he was elected a Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus in Ashland, MA.

Arthur was predeceased by first wife Alice (Stone) of Wellesley, MA and his brother Vincent Love of New York, NY.  He is survived by his beloved wife, Carol, of Evanston, IL; his sons, Arthur M. Love III and his wife Karen of Ashland, MA; Andrew M. Love and his wife Elizabeth of Wayland, MA; his stepchildren, Scott Silberstein and his wife Jacqueline Brenner of Evanston, IL, and Lisa Silberstein of Evanston, IL.  He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Arthur M. Love IV of Salem, MA, Jessica Love and her fiancé Dylan L’Heureux of Merrimack, NH, Andrew M. Love Jr. of Chatham, MA, and Griffin and Adeline O’Connor of Evanston, Il.

Family and friends are invited to gather to honor and celebrate Arthur's remarkable life. His legacy of Love, dedication, and passion will be remembered by all who knew him.  Visiting hours are 9:00 AM – 11:00AM with memorial service immediately following at 11:00AM on Tuesday 1/21 at George F Doherty & Sons, 477 Washington St. Wellesley.
