Peter T. “Jinxy” Giancola 67 of Franklin passed away peacefully at his home January 9, 2025 surrounded by his family, following an illness. He was the husband of Elizabeth “Libby” (Steel) Giancola.
A lifelong Franklin resident, he was the son of Charles and Mary (Johnson) Giancola.
He had a long career as a meat cutter and would often say “if it walks on 4 legs I can cut it”. He loved all sports but the Red Sox was his favorite. He had happy memories of going to Fenway Park with his father at an early age. He loved to travel and enjoyed his trips to Ireland, Canada, the Baseball Hall of Fame and Wrigley Field—Cubs was his second favorite team. He like golf but especially with his grandson C J.
Pete had a great appreciation for history including the Civil War. He loved trips with his brother Michael to Civil War encampments and the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Pete is survived by his wife Libby with whom he shared 45 years of love and friendship, daughter Jessica Giancola, stepsons Paul Steel and Nick Steel, 6 grandchildren, William, Gianna, C J, Emma, Kayla and Reese as well many nieces and nephews. In addition, he is survived by his siblings--brother Jack (Patti) Giancola and sisters Mary (Gibeault) Giancola, Jeanne (George) Deforge and Louise (Lulu) Giancola and his sister-in-law Vicki Giancola.
He is predeceased by his brother Michael Giancola and sister Kathleen Giancola.
At Pete’s request there will be no services. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
