Obituary

Cindy L. (Besly) Fanning, 65, of Worcester, died on Tuesday, January 8th in UMass Memorial Hospital – University Campus. She leaves her loving husband of 34 years, Robert Fanning; a sister, Robin Johnson of Worcester; brother-in-law, Timothy Duffy of Maine among several other in-laws; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Michael Besly and a sister, Kate Duffy.
She was born in Worcester, the daughter of Zenas and Christine (Copland) Besly. Cindy graduated from Burncoat High School and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from Worcester State University. Cindy lived a fulfilling life filled with passions that brought her immense joy. She loved cats and was known for the special bond she shared with her furry companions. A devoted animal lover, Cindy found great comfort and companionship in her pets. Cindy also had a keen love for shopping, often finding treasures that brought her happiness, as well as an avid passion for reading, exploring new worlds through the pages of books. Her love for stories and knowledge was endless, and she could always be found with a book in hand or discussing the latest literary find. She found great peace in her beautiful home in Wells, Maine, where she loved to relax, entertain, and create memories with family and friends. Cindy's love for her home was reflected in the warmth and welcoming nature she shared with those who visited.
Professionally, Cindy made a significant impact during her time as an office manager for the Diocese of Worcester. She was dedicated, hardworking, and respected by all who worked with her. Her contributions to the diocese and her compassionate approach to those she worked alongside will always be remembered fondly.
Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 14th beginning at 10:00am in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, 260 Cambridge Street. Her calling hours will be on Monday, January 13th from 4:00pm until 7:00pm in the funeral home.
