Michael F. Crowley Jr. (age 91)

Fitchburg – Michael F. Crowley Jr. passed away peacefully at The Highlands in Fitchburg on January 8, 2025. He was born on July 29, 1933, in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, the son of Michael and Peg Crowley. A proud graduate of Fitchburg High School, Class of 1952, Mike was a renowned football player during his high school years. After graduation, he attended Boston University before enlisting in the U.S. Army, where he served as a Private First Class in the Korean War (1953 – 1955). Following his honorable service, Mike worked as a construction worker. He was known for his hard work, determination, and strong sense of responsibility. He was well-known by many in Fitchburg, having spent his entire life there.

Mike was a man of deep Christian faith, and he lived his life committed to serving God and others. He viewed the last six years he spent at The Highlands as a ministry, using it as an opportunity to share his love for Christ and offer support and encouragement to those at the facility. His dedication to living out his Christian values touched the lives of many.

Mike is survived by his son, Michael F. Crowley III, his daughter-in-law, Faith Crowley, and his four grandsons: Christoffer and wife Cassidy, Timothy, Trey, and Tegan Crowley. He is also survived by his sister, Peggy (Crowley) Gajewski. Mike was predeceased by his brother, Ronald Crowley and his sisters: Cecelia Cuddy, Mary McGinnis, Norma Bourgault, Sharon Ann Crowley, and his adopted sister, Edna Wilkins.

Mike will be dearly missed by his son, daughter-in-law, grandsons, extended family, and many close friends, including Gloria Murin. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
The funeral will take place at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen St, Winchendon, MA at a future date after the winter season concludes.
