Obituary

Sharon A. (Gallagher) Loughran, 72 of Lowell, passed away peacefully after a long courageous battle with brain cancer on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at her home with her loving family by her side. She was the wife of Frederick Loughran with whom she would have celebrated 55 years of marriage in August.

She was born on July 11, 1952 in Lowell and was the daughter of the late Joseph Gallagher and Georgia M. (Correa) Visocchi. She attended Immaculate Conception grammar school before attending the Academy of Notre Dame.

Sharon was a lifelong Lowell resident, residing in the Belvidere neighborhood for many years, where she was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church. After high school, she devoted her life to raising her family before she began working. She previously worked as a waitress at Bickford’s for over 20 years and spent the last 15 years working as an administrative assistant at her good friend, Dr. Gregory McNamara's office in Lowell.

Sharon packed so much into her 72 years of life. She traveled the world, was an avid reader and loved to play tennis, scrabble and shop. She loved the beach and time spent with her friends and family. But most of all, she loved life. Always living it to the fullest and still managing to put one foot in front of the other after battling what she knew from the start was an incurable cancer. She did so with grace, dignity, integrity and courage.

In addition to her husband Frederick of Lowell, she is survived by three children, Frederick Loughran and his wife, Pamela of Leominster, Jennifer Raudelunas and her husband, Christian of Amherst, NH and Amy McKenney and her husband, Francis of Pelham, NH; and her six beloved grandchildren, Hunter, Hannah, Finley and Ryland Raudelunas, and Keegan and Abigael McKenney.
She is also survived by her siblings, Joseph and Ronald Gallagher of Lowell, 4 sister-in-laws and many nieces and nephews. Her sister-in-law, Margaret Edwards of Lowell was a constant support and best friend. Always taking her to appointments and treatments.

Sharon was predeceased by her sister, the late Deborah M. Silva.
