Dorothy (Dory) Mae Petrie, 64, of Chester, NH, died Sunday, December 29, 2024, in her home with her husband by her side. She was born on October 14, 1960, in Portland, ME, a daughter of Edward and Cecile-Marie (Cyr) Kimball.
Dory married her husband Ron Petrie on August 15, 1981, after dating for 5 months. They celebrated their 43rd anniversary in 2024. She graduated from Mount Blue H.S. with honors in 1982 and became a stay-at-home Mom with the birth of her first son in 1983. While she was pregnant with her third son, she helped her husband build their second home in Wilton, ME. In 1993, shortly after her 4th son was born the family moved to Chester, NH and built their forever home.
Dory loved the ocean and lighthouses. Her hobbies were flying kites, cooking, traveling and holding hands with her husband. Dory was a strong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She and her husband were sealed together in the Washington D.C. Temple on October 4th, 1983, for all time and eternity. Dory volunteered at the Chester Food pantry for many years and gave service to 1000’s more, physically, spiritually and financially.
She is survived by her loving husband, Ron Petrie, three sons, Kenneth Petrie, Nicholas Petrie, and Isaac Petrie; daughter, Lynette Fox, her sister, Brenda Liberty, seven grandchildren; and many extended family members. Dory was predeceased by her youngest son, Tyler Petrie in 2020.
There will be a Celebration of Life held in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Derry Ward building, 50 Adams Pond Road, Derry, NH, 03038 on February 8 at 10 AM. The burial will be in Great Hill Cemetery, Rt. 121A, Chester, NH in the Spring.
