Obituary

Maureen O’Neil Cloonan passed away in her Sagamore Beach home surrounded by her devoted, loving husband Tom and her children on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at the age of 87.
Maureen was born on December 4, 1937, Jamaica Plain, daughter of Daniel & Julia O’Neil. Maureen was one of ten sisters and two brothers. Her parents would make Boston’s Easter parade an endearing tradition
wearing matching outfits sewn by her mother Julia Olivera O’Neil. Their pictures appeared across the nation, including Life Magazine and they performed on the legendary Ed Sullivan Show along with other singing and dancing performances.
Maureen and Tom lived in Newton and spent winters in Boca Raton, Florida upon retirement they moved to Sagamore Beach which they loved and would always tell each other “we have had a wonderful life. “ They would have been married 68 years on 2/23/25. Maureen was a beautiful, kind, loving wife and Mother and will be dearly missed by all.
Maureen was the beloved wife of Thomas M. Cloonan, Sr. and was the loving Mother of the late, Thomas M. Cloonan Jr., survived by his wife Linda of Newton, and Kathleen Chisholm (Scott) of Needham, Maureen Punda of Sagamore Beach, Danielle Brandon (Michael) of Plymouth, Mary Blais of Yarmouth, Dennis Cloonan of Needham, and Robert Cloonan (Sandra) of Newton. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Many loving sisters, brother-in-laws, nieces and nephews. Loved by all and missed by many.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
