Obituary

CHICOPEE – James Theodore “Jim” Hart, 67, of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, January 2, 2025. He passed into Eternal Life at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Springfield on April 21, 1957, a beloved son of the late Marshall Arthur Hart, Sr. and Eleanor Mae (McNabb) Hart. He was raised on Bevier Street in the Glenwood section of Springfield and graduated from the former Springfield Technical High School. He lived in Springfield for many years before moving to Chicopee around 1999. Jim was last employed as an Environmental Service Technician at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. He previously worked at the family business, the Hart Adjustment Bureau in Springfield. He also drove an ambulance and worked at the former Bing Theatre in Springfield. During his leisure time, Jim enjoyed the simple things in life. He enjoyed playing his drums, searching the family genealogy, vacations on Cape Cod and he especially enjoyed drinking a Coke. Most of all, he loved his family, adored his two grandchildren, and his many friends. He leaves his beloved wife and best friend of nearly 38 years, Linda J. (D’Amario) Hart; his two loving and devoted children, Matthew J. Hart of Chicopee and Melissa L. Cote and her husband, Kevin, of Belchertown; his two cherished grandchildren who were the “apple of his eye”, Brooke Hart Cote and Frank Henry Cote; his three dear brothers, Marshall A. Hart, Jr. of Black Hawk, CA, David A. Hart and his wife, Wendy, of Summerville, SC, and Bruce T. Hart and his wife, Yvonne, of Chestnut Hill; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, numerous friends and extended family members. Beside his parents, he was also predeceased by his dear sister-in-law, Joyce C. Hart. His burial will be private for his family at Hillcrest Park Cemetery in Springfield. There are no visiting hours.
