Suzanne (Sue) Wedge, age 84, of Brockton passed away on January 3rd, 2025.
She was born in Dorchester, MA, on May 11, 1940, to the late Dorothy (Fraher) and the late Robert Sutherland. She was married to Robert Wedge for 63 years. Sue met the love of her life, Robert Wedge, at a Marshfield beach. They were married on May 6, 1961. Robert and “his bride” eventually settled in Brockton to raise their family, happily calling it home for more than 62 years.
Suzanne worked a few part-time jobs throughout her life. Her true vocation, though, was being Mom to Bobby, Michael, Scott and Laura, and Nana to her 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. During their school years, the kids recall their mom’s enthusiastic involvement with their school’s guild and their activities.
As a Nana, Sue truly excelled. She was known to bring out the previous generation’s treasured objects for play, from Barbies to matchbox cars. Sue was most content cooking, doing crafts, reading books and snuggling with her grandkids.
Sue loved crafting with others; her specialties were ceramics, Christmas ornaments, and beautifully arranged wreaths for the Christmas season.
Sue’s energy and love infused every gathering; she loved to entertain her family and friends. She loved to please everyone so she would go out of her way to cook everyone’s favorites.
Above all, Sue made sure that her people felt loved and cared for. Sue shared that spirit and love with her family and friends. She will be sorely missed, deeply loved, and forever in our hearts.
Sue is preceded in death by her son, Robert Wedge Jr. and daughter in law Lisa Wedge. She is survived and remembered in love by her adoring husband Robert Wedge, children Michael Wedge and his wife Marilva, Scott Wedge, Laura Wells and her husband Dave; her grandchildren Scotty, Daren, Dylan, Jakob, Amanda and Aidan; and great grandchildren Zoey and Willow. She also leaves her siblings James O’Donoghue and his wife Joan of Pembroke, and Joseph O’Donoghue and his wife Maureen of Dorchester. Suzanne was the sister of the late Robert Sutherland, Jean Garland and Frank O’Donoghue. She was the beloved Aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Sue’s life by gathering for visiting hours in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte. 123) Brockton on Monday, Jan 13th, from 4-7 pm. A funeral mass will be held at Christ the King Church, 54 Lyman Street, Brockton, on Tuesday, Jan 14th at 10:30 am. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her name can be made to Old Colony Hospice, 321 Manley Street, West Bridgewater, MA 02379.
