Obituary

Robert "Bob" Lachance of Cape Coral, FL, formerly of Cumberland, RI, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2024. Bob lived 89 full, abundant years. Born in Central Falls, RI, he was known for his dedication to service. He was a Scout Master, CYO President, choir member, and lector at St. Aidan's parish. Bob also served as the emcee of the Blackstone Valley Summer Concert Series and was a member of the Blackstone Valley Chamber of Commerce. His professional life included careers in banking and real estate. In Florida, Bob continued his passion for music by singing in the choir at St. Andrews and with the Gulf Harmonizers. His generous spirit was evident in his 20 years of volunteer work with Hope Hospice.

A proud 25-year veteran, Bob was an Army Special Forces Command Sergeant Major in the RI National Guard and also served in Korea.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Beatrice and George Lachance, his sister Theresa Casperson, and brothers Joe-Pete, Ronald, and Paul Lachance.

Bob was deeply devoted to his beloved wife of 65 years, Amelia (Milly) Lachance. He was a loving father to his four children and their spouses: Scott Lachance and his wife Yolanta of FL, Ken Lachance and his wife Darlene of RI, Russ Lachance and his wife Lisa of NY, and Keri Cruise and her husband Paul of MA. Bob was also a cherished Pepere to 12 grandchildren (Dorrie, Nicole, Michael, Zachary, Kiara, Hannah, Bobbi, Chelsea, Megan, Austin, Amy and Lia) and 17 great-grandchildren (Jason, Kailee, Kaden, Joey, Jolena, Jackson, Milo, Nora, Ronan, Amelia, Ada, Otto, Walker, Tegan, Shepard, Avery, and Aurora) , and he welcomed one great-great-grandchild into the world (Iris).

Bob's legacy of love and laughter will be remembered by all who knew him. Committal services will be held at the RI Veteran’s Cemetery at a time to be announced.
