Rosalie Sullivan, beloved mother, grandmother, dedicated nurse, and friend to many passed away peacefully on January 4, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. Born and raised in Bayonne NJ, spent her married life in Medford, MA, where she touched the lives of many with her kindness, dedication and vibrant spirit.
Rosalie is survived by her three children: daughter Susan Sullivan (husband Bruce Davis), daughter Robin (husband Gregg Dooling) and son Michael. She was a cherished grandmother to Colleen and Matthew Dooling and Brianna (Antonio) Alaimo. Loving great-grandmother of Arabella and Serafina Alaimo. She is survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. Rosalie was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, her daughter Michele, her parents Nicolas and Lillian Carine, her brother Frank C. Carine along with numerous aunts, uncles, in-laws and grand dogs.
Graduate of St. Michael’s Nursing School and Boston University, Rosalie spent 35 years at Malden Hospital. She began her career teaching the next generation of nurses and was a dedicated floater between the ICU and the ER, completing her nursing career at the Cambridge Health Alliance. Her commitment to caring for others was a hallmark of her life.
Rosalie was deeply involved in her community. As a devout Catholic, she was passionately involved at the Immaculate Conception Church in Malden and the IC Social Club. She was the conductor of the Folk Group, served as a Eucharistic Minister, and as a lector. She was President of the Mother’s Club and Chairwoman of the 1000 Club. Rosalie was an active volunteer with numerous organizations including the Medford Jingle Bell Festival, Thursday Fortnightly and a proud member of the Red Hatters Society. At Malden Catholic High School, she served as President of the Malden Catholic Lancers Association. She was the school nurse for numerous years, a supporter of Lancer Athletics and a proud recipient of the Plus Ultra Award.
For a decade Rosalie served as a nurse at Camp Bernadette. She selflessly devoted 37 years as a volunteer at EC week, a camp dedicated to children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
In retirement, as a lover of the beach, she spent many winters in Naples, Florida and summers in York, Maine where she formed many lasting friendships. Along the shores of the beach is where she found peace and joy.
She spent the last three years of her life at The Arbors in Stoneham where she was welcomed with open arms. She naturally became well liked and loved by the residents and staff. It should come as no surprise that she quickly got involved in all the Arbors had to offer and served as the President of the Residence Council. In her short time there she left a lasting impression.
Rosalie was full of life and had a smile that would light up a room. Her positive influence touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be deeply missed, but her family and friends will hold her in their hearts forever, cherishing the countless beautiful memories she left behind.
