It is with sadness that we share the news that Benjamin Douglas Kadansky died December 21, 2024. Doug was born in Los Angeles to David and Dorothy Kadansky and grew up in Van Nuys. He became a Bar Mitzvah and spent a summer in Israel on an Ulpan during his high school years. He graduated from Van Nuys High in 1971 and went on to earn a Master’s Degree in Music from California State University Northridge. He taught music for more than 30 years at Alhambra, Buena, Dos Pueblos and Santa Paula High Schools. His passion was teaching and guiding his students to do their best. After retirement he spent time writing music, reading, and discussing politics.
Doug is survived by his son, Jeff, his sister and brother-in-law Miriam and Darryl Mack of Ventura, niece and nephew, and many dear lifelong friends. Doug is preceded in death by his wife, Lisa.
In lieu of flowers, we believe Doug would have wanted memorial donations to be made to a music program at Santa Paula High School or a music program at any other public high school.
