Irene Adrienne A. Berg passed away on December 25, 2024, at Dawn Hill Home for Rehab in Bristol, Rhode Island. She was 93.
She is survived by her 3 children; Gary, Susan (Huaco), and Marcia Berg, as well as her 2 granddaughters; Elizabeth and Natalie Huaco.
Irene was born on October 26, 1931, in Corona (Queens) New York to Giuseppe (Joseph) Assamoneo of Torino, Italy, and Severina Perenno Assamoneo of Genoa, Italy. Irene grew up in Corona and Flushing New York, where she attended Our Lady of Sorrow grammar school, and Flushing High School class of 1949.
Irene was an excellent student and upon graduation embarked on a career with the New York Port Authority as a legal secretary, until she married her devoted husband, Noel Berg, on October 30, 1957. Together, she and Noel built a happy homestead in various parts of the U.S., as Noel established his career.
An opportunity in 1963, from Charles Draper Laboratory in Cambridge, brought them to Acton, Massachusetts where they settled for the next 26 years to raise their children.
In 1989, they relocated and built their dream home in Tiverton, Rhode Island. Irene spent the next 30 plus years making new friends, volunteering and participating in different organizations, such as; Hospice, the Blithewold Gardens, and the Tiverton Woman’s Club.
Irene was ever the perfectionist and was continually working at improving her artistic abilities with watercolors. She was highly accomplished in various disciplines of needle work from sewing to quilting, from knitting to rug hooking.
Irene loved to travel, especially to Italy, where she could utilize her Italian language skills, and procure new gourmet recipes. When Irene was not traveling, or being an artist, she was actively working out at the Newport Athletic Club with her many friends.
Irene was a loyal and caring daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She had a sharp and witty sense of humor. She was funny, full of energy and zest. She will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved her.
