Lillian “Lily” G. (Kubetin) Mika, 68, passed away on Saturday, January 4th at UMass Memorial Hospital in Worcester surrounded by her loving family. She leaves her husband of 39 years, James Mika; her twin daughters, Julia Cronin and her husband, Jim of Worcester and Lianna Verrette and her husband, Matt of Woburn; her two grandchildren, Mira and Nathan; two brothers, Richard Kubetin and his wife, Michele of CT and John Kubetin and his wife, Jill of Wilbraham; two sisters, Diane Kubetin of Worcester and Lucy Rivest and her husband, Scott of ME; and many nieces,nephews, and extended family. She is predeceased by her siblings, George and Henrietta Kubetin.
She was born in Ludlow, the daughter of the late Aleksander and Anna (Biesaga) Kubetin. Lily had a decades-long career at MassMutual Insurance in Springfield, where she met many of her closest friends and was highly respected for her dedication and expertise. Lily lived for most of her life in Western MA, with many years spent at her beloved waterfront home on Nine Mile Pond in Wilbraham, before relocating to Worcester to be close to her grandchildren. Lily's true passion was her family. As the beloved "planner" of the family, she organized countless holiday gatherings, vacations, and celebrations, always ensuring that those closest to her felt loved and cared for. Her infectious sense of humor, outgoing personality, and silly antics brought joy to everyone she met. One of Lily's greatest joys was spending time with her grandchildren, whom she adored more than anything. Her heart would light up at every moment shared with them, and being with them was truly her favorite pastime. She also loved trips to Cape Cod, where she would soak in the sun, enjoy the ocean breeze, and create lasting memories with her family.
Lily's warmth, kindness, and laughter will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, joy, and the importance of family togetherness.
Her calling hours will be held on Thursday, January 16th from 5:00pm until 7:00pm in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester. Burial will be private.
