Obituary

Paul Raymond Donovan, cherished husband, devoted father, and beloved brother, passed away suddenly at home, on January 4th, 2025 at the age of 70. He leaves behind a legacy of love, integrity, and service that will forever be remembered by those who knew him.

Born to the late Lillian and Harold Donovan, Paul grew up in Hingham with a strong sense of family and purpose. He is survived by his beloved wife, Susan Donovan, and his loving daughter, Jessica Donovan, who were the center of his world. Paul was a supportive and caring brother to Carole Nicodemus and her husband, Dave, and to his brother Harold, his wife Carol, and brother Brian. He was also an uncle to six nieces and nephews.

Paul was a proud and accomplished member of the Wampatuck Freemason Lodge, as well as the Phoenix Mason Lodge. He achieved the esteemed rank of Master Mason and was a 32rd degree in the Scottish rite of Freemasonary, as well as being an active member of the Abington Knights of Columbus. Through these organizations, he dedicated himself to fostering fellowship, charity, and service to his community, exemplifying the values of faith and brotherhood in all that he did.

He was a proud graduate of Hingham High School and earned his Bachelor’s in Economics from the College of the Holy Cross. He proudly attended all of his reunions and kept close ties with his peers.

Paul’s warmth, wisdom, and unshakable devotion to his family and community will be profoundly missed but never forgotten. He was easy going, friendly, and well loved. He enjoyed listening to music, every night, and always looked forward to the Boston Red Sox’s opening day. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to share in his journey.

A memorial service to celebrate Paul’s life will be held at the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, 666 Plymouth Street, Whitman, MA 02382 on Wednesday, January 8th from 5 to 7 pm. A Masonic service will follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Wampatuck Lodge (38 Franklin Street, East Bridgewater, MA 02333), Scholarship Fund, in honor of Paul’s commitment to service and generosity.

May he rest in eternal peace, reunited with his parents and held in the loving arms of God.
