Jane Elaine Stacey (Mason)
December 18, 1957 – December 22, 2024
CORNISH- Jane Elaine Stacey, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2024, in her home state of Maine. Born on December 18, 1957, Jane spent her life rooted in the beautiful landscapes of Maine, surrounded by family, friends, and the traditions she held dear.
The daughter of the late William Mason Sr. and Evelyn Mason, Jane grew up in a close-knit family. She was predeceased by her eldest sister, Judy Ruth Gilpatric, in 2021. Jane is survived by her brother, William Mason Jr., and her sister, Trudy Teele, both of Porter, Maine.
After high school, Jane married H. Warren Stacey, and together they raised three children: Robert Stacey (spouse: Nicole Voorhees), Joseph Stacey (spouse: Kelly Stacey), and Sara Serbanescu (spouse: Teodor Serbanescu). Her family grew to include her cherished grandchildren: Jacobian Stacey (11), Elias Stacey (8), Kassidy Betters (13), Eliya Betters (15), Joey Stacey (3), and Henry Serbanescu (11 months).
Jane’s life was filled with love, laughter, and a variety of endeavors. She took pride in her work delivering newspapers and later managing crews for Stacey Construction. In her later years, Jane’s youthful spirit and joy, combined with her deep love for raising her grandchildren, inspired her to volunteer at the local elementary school, where she found great happiness reading to children and sharing stories.
A master of hospitality, Jane expressed her love through cooking, baking, and hosting gatherings. Whether it was a Thanksgiving dinner or a baby shower, she made everyone feel welcome and cherished. Her kitchen table was a gathering place for stories, laughter, and, of course, a slice of pie accompanied by fresh coffee.
Jane’s warmth, humor, and devotion to her family and community will be deeply missed. Her legacy of kindness and generosity will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, January 17th from 5 -7 PM at the Poitras, Neal & York Funeral Home, 71 Maple St., Cornish. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 18th, at noon, at the funeral home. Following the service, a Celebration of Life reception will be held at Calvary Bible Church in Hiram, Maine. Burial will be in the spring at the Kezar Falls Burial Ground.
