NORTH WATERBORO- Dennis Gregg Mooers Sr., Age 78, passed away at his home on January 3,
2025, from heart failure.
Dennis was born on June 5, 1946, in Saco, Maine.
A son of the late George Abbot and Mabel Wilhelmina Blanchard Mooers.
After graduating from Dayton Grammar School at 13, Dennis dedicated himself to various jobs
to support his family.
Dennis married Patricia Desmarais on September 2nd, 1963, and they were married for 52
years.
Dennis's career spanned farming, machine fabrication, plumbing, woodworking, and electrical
work. He was a self-proclaimed “jack of all trades and a master of none.” He was hands-on in
everything he did. When it came to caring for his family and friends, he’s remembered for his
reliability and loyalty, which were always accompanied by a wry sense of humor and a
shit-eating grin.
On rare occasions he wasn’t working, Dennis liked to camp, fish, and tend to his garden. His
fondest memories were of going to the beach with his family, where they enjoyed the view while
eating pier fries.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patricia Mooers; his mother, Mabel Mooers; his
son, Dennis Mooers Junior; and his siblings, Roger Mooers, Calvin Mooers, and Gloria Girard.
He is survived by his cherished children Robert Mooers and his wife Chikako of Columbia, SC,
Lisa Mooers-Jackson and her husband Leroy of Vero Beach, FL, and Tina Mooers-Blow and her
husband Tom of Shapleigh.
Siblings Allen Mooers, Laura Severance, Maxine Bineau, and Douglas Mooers.
Five grandchildren: Sarah, Patrick, Sonya, Tyler, and Taylor-Ruby.
Two great-grandchildren, Roman and Sophia.
He is also survived by two best friends- Steve Howard and Mike Diburro.
Dennis requested to be the first funeral service at the future Chad E. Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service Chapel in Waterboro once all permits and licenses to operate are in place. This is expected to take place in the spring.
Lastly, Dennis posthumously would like to thank the hardworking staff at Hospice of Southern
Maine for their expert care, specifically Sara, Julie, and Larry, and in lieu of flowers, requests all
memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Southern Maine.
