LIMERICK- Merlon Alfred Sargent III, 38, passed away peacefully and unexpectedly on Tuesday January 2, 2025, at his home.
Merlon was well known locally as Brub, Brub Jr., Brubby and the self-proclaimed “Mayor of Limerick.” No matter the name he was known by, he was known to be the go-to guy if anyone was in need. Without hesitation he would help anyone who asked.
He was born in Portland, ME on June 2, 1986, to Sandra Sargent and the late Merlon Sargent JR.
He attended Portland schools and graduated from Deering High School, where he enjoyed being a member of the wrestling team.
After Graduation he attended the Motorcycle Mechanics Institute in Florida. He moved back to the Portland Maine area and lived there until 2016, when he moved back to Limerick, ME where he had a large extended family.
In 2018 Merlon married his love of life and soulmate Brandy Sargent. Together they shared the most wonderful and fun filled 7 years of their lives.
Merlon was employed by Spurwink Services, he then worked along with his father doing where he gained knowledge in many aspects of the construction field. He moved on to tree work with Kimball and Sons Tree Service. Being the hard worker that he was, upon his death he held two jobs. Working full time for SAM Properties and part time for Uptown Auto. He was way more than just an employee at these companies, he became family to his employers Larry Whitely and John Medici, and most of all to his coworkers. Ther was nothing he would not do for any of them. Making sure at the end of the day everyone was “all set” before he left.
Throughout his life he enjoyed motorcycles, camping, fishing, karaoke, and being at home dancing foolishly with his wife.
He was predeceased by his father in 2022.
He is survived by his beloved wife Brandy Sargent; his children Aiden Matta, Conrad Sargent, Jaxson Sargent and Grace Sargent; his bonus children as her referred to them, Clinton Chloie and Lillie; his mother Sandra Sargent, his siblings Shannon and husband Michael Hurkes, Jessica and husband Al Wilcox, Megan Sargent, Nick Sargent, Jason Haycock, and Walter Haycock; his Step Father Daniel Lord, Step Brothers, Jonathan, Nathaniel and Benjamin Lord.
He will also be remembered by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, special Godfathers Buddy and Al, and all the many friends he held as close as family.
