CHICOPEE – Ruth L. (Laliberte) Lamothe, 96, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2024. She passed into Eternal Life at the JGS Healthcare Center in Longmeadow surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Holyoke on December 11, 1928, a beloved daughter of the late Joseph and Leona (Michaud) Laliberte. She was raised and educated in Holyoke where she lived for most of her life. She worked in retail for 25 years and was the longtime manager of the former K Mart Department Store in Holyoke. Upon retirement, she dedicated her time to organizing game clubs for her friends. Ruth was known for her sense of humor, love of playing cards and bingo, and hosting her family for holidays. She was a communicant of Saint Anne Church in Chicopee and a longtime communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in Holyoke. Most of all, she adored her family and showered them with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. She leaves behind her loving children, Lynda Landry of Chicopee, Donna Covelusky of Pottsville, PA, and Gerald “Butch” Gelinas of Westfield; her beloved grandchildren, Laura Leigh Gelinas of South Hadley, Jethren Mattus and his wife, Jennifer, of Midway, GA, Sarah Covelusky of Pottsville, PA, Brittney Covelusky of Pottsville, PA, Nicole Gelinas of Seattle, WA, Zack Gelinas of Agawam, and Matthew Landry of Chicopee; her cherished great-grandchildren, Samantha Gelinas and her husband, Peter, of Longmeadow, Kassy Akiva and her husband, Isaac, of Boston, Nickolas Denehy and his wife, Dixie, of Springfield, Christian Landry of Chicopee, Xavier Mattus and Darron Mattus, both of of Georgia, and Mitchell Covelusky and Killian Covelusky, both of Pennsylvania; her cherished great-great-grandchildren, Kendall Ruth Gelinas, Sawyer Gelinas, Adelaide Gelinas, and Emmitt Denehy; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sons, Daniel and David Gelinas, and her husbands, Gerald Gelinas, Rene Lapointe, and Isadore “Bob” Lamothe. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at 10 a.m. at Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. (Please meet directly at the Church, Mass will be held in the Church Hall) Her Burial will follow the Mass at Notre Dame Cemetery, 63 Lyman Street, South Hadley, MA 01075.
