Marcia Ruth Stephens, a longtime Tewksbury resident, passed away at home on December 31, 2024. Marcia leaves behind her husband of 60 years, retired Tewksbury police officer Allan Stephens.
Marcia was born on November 13, 1944 in Malden, MA. She was the first born child to Silvio and Ruth Maglio, and leaves behind six brothers and sisters: Dennis, Kenny, Kathryn, Steven, Vincent and Marie, and many beloved nieces and nephews. Among her many monikers, Marcia was lovingly known as “Auntie Marcia” by many.
Marcia also leaves behind her three sons and their families, Robert and Diana of Leland, NC, Michael and Carmen of York, ME, and Paul of Lowell, MA. In her later years, Marica became proudly known as “Grandma” and “Mimi” to seven grandchildren: Samantha, Jessica, Bradley, Katelyn, Nicholas, Nicole and Elizabeth. Marcia also leaves behind two great-grandchildren, Vera and Dominic.
Marcia was well-regarded for her talents as a quilter, hostess and storyteller. Marcia’s supreme talents as a quilter prevailed for several years even after she began to lose her eyesight and she took great pride in gifting quilts, table runners and other creations to loved ones. Those who knew Marcia regard her well as an accomplished, published storyteller and a thoughtful hostess who always had a pantry and fridge full of the best snacks. Among her lesser-known talents, Marcia was also a gifted singer.
When Marcia was not at home in Tewksbury, she was often traveling to York Beach, ME, to spend time on the beach with her family and friends. Marcia was gifted at finding flawless sand dollars, seashells and seaglass.
