Obituary

Giovanni “Johnnie” Ruberti, long-term resident of Medford, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, January 1st. He was 76. Born in Tripoli, Libya, he was the cherished son of the late Francesco and Maria (Savino) Ruberti. Johnnie had a long prosperous career at Boston College and established many friendships throughout the years and retired in 2001.

Johnnie was an avid hunter and enjoyed spending his summers at his home he built on Ossipee Lake Nh. He enjoyed going to Encore and playing craps with his brother-in-law Bill. Johnnie had a natural green thumb; his gardens were filled with all types of vegetables. He was especially proud of his tomatoes which he would use at the end of the season to make jars of sauce with his family. Johnnie’s biggest passion was spending time with his family, either at a family get together or hanging out in his backyard. Johnnie will be greatly missed by all that had the privilege of meeting him.

Johnnie was the beloved husband of 51 years to Ann Carol (Uglietta) Ruberti. He was the devoted father of John F. Ruberti and his wife Jaclyn. He was the loving Nonno of Chase, Cameron, and Lilyana. He was the dear brother of Nicola Ruberti and his late wife Theresa, Cora Gauthier and her husband Bill, Rosetta Serino and her husband Richard, and Cathy Maccini and her husband John. Johnnie is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
