Robert Neary Obituary

Robert Vincent Micheal Neary, born on June 11, 1949, in Boston, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on December 28,2024.

A graduate of Boston Technical High School, Robert answered the call to serve his country when he was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1969. He served with distinction as part of the Redeye Missile Unit in Korea until 1971. Following his military service, Robert earned a Bachelor’s degree from Suffolk University and embarked on a career as a firefighter and EMT with the Marshfield Fire Department. He dedicated himself to protecting and serving his community until 2001, when a brain aneurysm brought his career to an early end.

In 2003, Robert suffered a stroke that left him a paraplegic. Despite these challenges, he faced life with resilience and determination. For over two decades, he was lovingly cared for by Patricia Wilson and Richard Neary, whose unwavering support allowed him to live with dignity and grace.
Robert will be remembered for his adventurous spirit and love of life. Though confined to a wheelchair in later years, he is now free once more—walking, swimming, diving, skiing, landscaping, boating, and embracing all the activities he cherished.

He will be laid to rest alongside his parents, Frances and Vincent Neary, at Bourne National Cemetery on January 7, 2025, at 10:45 a.m., in his own plot —a fitting tribute to a life well-lived.

May Robert’s memory bring comfort to those who knew him and inspire others to face life’s challenges with courage and strength.
